The recipe website and the cookbooks

What this page covers

This page covers two things:

  • the recipe website at sofiayuzu.com, which is free to read; and
  • the cookbooks — downloadable PDF books you buy once.

It does not cover the app. The health and food tracker is a separate product, sold on a subscription, and it has its own terms and its own privacy policy. You will find them at /legal/app-terms/ and /legal/app-privacy/.

This page is written to stand on its own. You do not need to read anything else to understand it.

We have written it in plain language on purpose. If a sentence here is unclear, write to admin@sofiayuzu.com and we will explain it and, if it needs fixing, fix it.

1. Who you are dealing with

The recipe website and the cookbooks are run by:

ФОП Sofiia Serhiivna Hetman (Гетьман Софія Сергіївна) — a Ukrainian sole trader. That means a private individual registered to do business, not a company.

In this document, "we", "us" and "our" mean that business. "You" means you — the person reading the site or buying a cookbook.

An AI assistant reads that mailbox first and answers routine things — cancelling a web subscription, questions about how the app works — and it says so at the start of every conversation. A person reads everything else, and every request about your data goes to a person. Please do not send us lab results or other health documents by email: put them in the app. If one arrives, we delete the message.

You can write to us in English, German, Spanish, French, Polish, Portuguese, Russian or Ukrainian.

Paddle handles the money. Our order process is run by Paddle.com Market Limited, which acts as our authorised reseller and as the merchant of record for every purchase. In practice:

  • Your purchase contract for the payment is with Paddle, not with us. Paddle takes the payment, applies the VAT or sales tax due in your country, issues the invoice or receipt, and handles payment support and chargebacks.
  • The thing you are paying for — the cookbook itself — comes from us, and these terms govern it.
  • We never see or store your card details.
  • Paddle has its own buyer terms and its own privacy notice, which apply to the payment. If Paddle's checkout says something about your rights that is less favourable to you than what this page says, what this page says applies to what we provide.

By using the site or buying a cookbook, you agree to these terms.

2. Who can buy

You must be 16 or older to buy a cookbook from us. There is no lower age band and no parental-consent route. You confirm your age at checkout; we do not ask for documents and we do not keep a date of birth for a cookbook order — we ask for as little as we can get away with.

If we learn that a buyer was under 16, we cancel the order and refund it in full.

The recipe website itself is free to read and has no age check. The recipes are written for adults cooking for themselves.

Subscribing to the app is different: there we do ask for your date of birth and check it on our servers, because the app holds health data. That is explained in the App terms.

Where we sell. We do not offer the app or the cookbooks in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan, we do not direct our services at those countries, and we do not accept sign-ups or orders from there.

You also need to be able to enter into a contract, and you must not be someone we are barred from dealing with under sanctions law.

3. The recipe website

All recipes published on sofiayuzu.com are free to read and cook from for your own personal use. You may share links to our pages.

You may not republish our recipes, photos or texts, scrape the site at scale, redistribute our content, or use it to train a model, without our written permission. We reserve our rights over text and data mining.

We may change, move or remove recipes at any time. We try to keep the site up, but we do not promise it will always be available.

You do not need an account to read the site. Some pages embed videos hosted by someone else; when you click one, that provider receives a request from your browser. Our privacy policy and our cookie policy explain what that means.

4. The cookbooks — what you get

Each cookbook is a downloadable PDF. The current prices are shown on the shop page, and Paddle shows you the exact total before you confirm. In the EU and the UK the price you see already includes VAT; in the United States sales tax, where it applies, is added at checkout. Prices are shown in euro or in US dollars depending on where you are; if you pay in another currency, your bank or Paddle converts it.

Delivery is electronic and immediate. Your download link appears as soon as the payment succeeds, and we also email it to you. Nothing physical is shipped.

A cookbook is a one-off purchase. It does not renew. Buying one does not start a subscription of any kind and does not sign you up for the app.

5. What you may do with a cookbook

When you buy a cookbook you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for your own private, non-commercial purposes, on your own devices. You may print a copy for yourself.

You may not resell, share, publish, upload, lend or otherwise redistribute the files, in whole or in part. That includes posting them in file-sharing groups and sending them on to friends — send them the link to the shop instead.

You may of course cook from the book for anyone you like, including for money in your own kitchen. What you may not do is pass the file on.

6. Paying

You pay through Paddle's checkout. Paddle shows you the final price with tax before you confirm, takes the payment and sends you the invoice or receipt.

Once the payment succeeds, the download is unlocked straight away.

If a payment fails, nothing is charged and nothing is delivered. If you are charged and receive nothing, tell us and we will fix it — see section 7.

How the contract is made, in technical terms. Some laws — Ukrainian law, where we are registered, and EU law, where many of you are — require us to spell out the mechanics of an online purchase. Here they are.

  1. The steps. You choose a cookbook or the bundle → you go to Paddle's checkout → you enter your email address and your payment details → you confirm the two statements in section 7 → you confirm the order. The contract exists from the moment your order is confirmed by email.
  2. Correcting a mistake. Before you confirm, every step can be gone back to and every field can be changed. After you confirm, write to admin@sofiayuzu.com and we will correct anything that was entered wrong, including an order placed by mistake.
  3. The language of the contract. The contract is concluded in the language you were reading these terms in when you ordered.
  4. Your copy, and where it lives. The confirmation email records what you bought, what you paid and both of the statements you confirmed at checkout. These terms, in the version that applied on the day of your purchase, stay available at this address, and we will send you that exact version — as a PDF you can print, if you like — if you ask.
  5. No electronic signature is needed. Confirming the order is how the contract is accepted. We do not ask for and do not use qualified electronic signatures.

7. Changing your mind, and refunds

The full rules are on our refund page. Here is the short version.

If you live in the EU or the UK, you normally have 14 days to change your mind about something bought online. A downloadable file is an exception to that — but only if you asked for it to be delivered straight away, were told what that costs you, and got that confirmed to you in writing.

So before the download starts, the checkout asks you to confirm two things:

  1. that you want the download to begin immediately, before the 14-day period ends; and
  2. that you understand you lose your right to change your mind once it has begun.

And then we email you a confirmation of the order — what you bought, what you paid, and both of those statements repeated back to you, so that you have a record of them that we cannot edit afterwards. The law requires all three steps, not just the two boxes.

If all three happened and the download began, that cookbook sale is final. This is the only situation in which that sentence is true for us, and it does not apply to the app subscription.

If any of them did not happen — no boxes, or no confirmation email — nothing was waived. You keep the full 14 days and you get all of your money back. The refund page carries the model withdrawal form.

Whatever you confirmed, we always put right a billing error, a duplicate charge, or a file that is broken, corrupt or never arrived.

8. Health and nutrition — please read this

This site and our cookbooks do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Consult a healthcare professional for medical advice.

Recipes, calorie counts, macronutrient values and any nutrition-related content on this site and in our products are provided for informational purposes only. Values are estimates calculated from typical ingredient data and may vary with brands, portions and preparation. Nothing on this site is medical or dietary advice. Always check ingredients against your own allergies and intolerances, and consult a qualified professional before making significant changes to your diet.

A few things worth spelling out:

  • Allergies are yours to check. We list ingredients as we used them. Brands change their recipes, factories share equipment, and a substitution you make changes the picture. If you have an allergy or intolerance, read the labels on what you actually buy.
  • The numbers are estimates. Nutrient values are calculated from typical ingredient data. Your flour, your olive oil and your portion size are not ours.
  • Talk to someone qualified before a big change. That is especially true if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have or have had an eating disorder, have diabetes, kidney or liver disease, or take medication that is affected by what you eat.
  • Who wrote the recipes. "Nutritionist" is a protected professional title in some countries and an unregulated term in others. Either way, Sofia is not a state-registered or state-licensed dietitian, doctor, or other regulated healthcare professional. Her qualification is a course-based professional certification (Nutri Lab, certificate no. 8495), and her review of a plan is a sanity check, not medical advice. The recipes are cooking, not treatment.

9. Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • try to disrupt, overload, probe or break into the site;
  • bulk-download or scrape our content, or use it to train a model;
  • resell, sublicense or redistribute anything we sell;
  • upload or send us malware, or anything unlawful or abusive;
  • use the site or the books for an unlawful purpose, or to give health advice to other people.

If you do any of that, we can block your access and cancel your orders.

10. Intellectual property

Everything on sofiayuzu.com and in the cookbooks — the texts, the recipes as written, the photographs, the design, the code, and the SofiaYuzu name and logo — belongs to us or to the people we licensed it from, and is protected by copyright. Buying a cookbook gives you the licence in section 5 and nothing more.

Cooking a dish and photographing your own plate is fine. Copying our text or our photographs is not.

If you think something on our site infringes your copyright, write to admin@sofiayuzu.com with the details and we will look into it promptly.

11. Liability

The site and the cookbooks are provided as they are. We take reasonable care to make them accurate and available, but we do not promise that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that every nutrient figure is exact.

What we never exclude. Nothing on this page limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow to be excluded. This matters here more than in most terms: our products are about food, and we are not going to hide behind a disclaimer if someone gets hurt.

What we do limit. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost profits, or for decisions you take about your diet or your health on the basis of our content rather than on professional advice (section 8).

And a floor. Nothing here removes a right that the consumer law of your country gives you and that cannot be signed away. If a court finds part of this section unenforceable, the rest still stands.

12. Your rights, and how to complain

Rights we cannot take away. Whatever this page says, you keep every right the consumer law of the country where you live gives you and that cannot be excluded by agreement. That includes your rights about faulty digital content, about misleading information, and — where it applies — your right to change your mind (section 7).

Your data. What we do with your personal data is explained in our privacy policy, and what is stored on your device in our cookie policy. You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to admin@sofiayuzu.com. Every request about your data goes to a person, not to the assistant.

Complaints. Tell us first: admin@sofiayuzu.com.

How long we take. We usually answer within a week. Billing disputes and anything complex can take up to two weeks. Requests about your personal data are answered within one month (45 days if you are making a request under Washington State law), and any refund we owe you is paid within 14 days of your notice.

For anything about a payment, an invoice or a chargeback, Paddle's support can help too, because Paddle is the merchant of record.

If we cannot sort it out between us, you keep every right you have under the consumer law of your own country, including the right to go to the consumer protection body or the courts there.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update this page — for example when we add a product or the law changes.

  • The current version, with its date, is always published here.
  • For small changes — wording, clarifications, a new detail — we simply publish the new version.
  • We never change the terms of a purchase you have already made. Whatever was on this page on the day you bought a cookbook is what applies to that purchase.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without affecting mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.

If you live in the EU or the UK, you can bring proceedings about these terms in the courts of the country where you live, and we will only bring proceedings against you in those courts.

15. The small print that has nowhere else to go

  • If one part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest keeps working.
  • If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these terms to someone else. We may transfer ours if the business is sold, but not in a way that reduces your rights.
  • These terms, together with our refund policy, our privacy policy and our cookie policy, are the whole agreement between us about the website and the cookbooks.

16. Languages

The English text of this page is the one we write and update first.

Where we have published a version in another language, that version is the one that applies to you and you can rely on it. If it differs from the English one, the meaning that is more favourable to you applies. Anything that was more favourable to you in an older translation still applies to what you did while that translation was the published one — we do not get to improve our position by being slow to translate. Once the Ukrainian version is published, it applies to users in Ukraine as Ukrainian law requires.

Today this page is published in English. Translations into German, Spanish, French, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Ukrainian are being prepared, and each version will show when it was last updated. Until a version in your language is published, the English text applies. If you spot a difference between two versions, write to admin@sofiayuzu.com and we will fix whatever is wrong.
